Taiwan was once a Japanese colony. They left a lot of influence in its culinary traditions. One was teppanyaki, and in Taipei you can get really high quality teppanyaki at a fraction of the price of Tokyo. Kigetsu 季月 was one of the new kid on the block.
Kigetsu was part of the Kanpai Group that specialised in Japanese Yakiniku. Kanpai in ZhongXiao East was the flagship store (beer toasts at 9pm sharp, and if you french kiss with your partner, you get a plate of gyu tongue free) and extremely popular with youngers.
Since then, they have started a few up market yakiniku restaurants in Breeze Centre and Mitsukoshi Xinyi. Kigetsu was their first foray into something that is not yakiniku.

31 Aug 2017: It was a pity that this shop has closed down in the fiercely competitive F&B scene in Taipei. I guess the economy was really bad.
