Landing in Osaka in the middle of the night, we decided to venture around our hotel (The Westin Osaka) to look for a good bite. We stumbled on this cozy little izakaya at 1 am.

居酒屋bar公-KIMI

Besides this izakaya is a sushi restaurant. Given the late night and cold weather, we wanted something to warm our stomachs. The sight of boiling odens, steaming kamemeshi and sizzling gyoza just warmed our cholesterol laden heart.

Once we are seated, we are presented with our customary tsukidashi (in Kansai speak, called otoshi in Tokyo) and oshibori (wet towel). The otoshi is rather pathetic for an izakaya.

Overall, the food was so-so, something I would not have go for again in normal hours. The whole place was empty safe for two tables. But having warm food in the middle of the night besides hotel room service – priceless.
