Macau Por King 葡珍点心烧腊 @ Shanghai

Last day with Princess in Shanghai, and we were sick of restaurants. It was drizzling so we decided to find something near to Le Royal Meridian along Nanjing Pedestrian Street.

We managed to find a Cha Chaan Teng (茶餐厅) called Macau Por King in the building opposite called Shanghai First Foodhall. This building was a product of the communist era of grouping all the sales of one category of product, in this case food products, in a single building. Fast forward to the open economy, they have leased most of their floors to franchisees of capitalist brands like McDonalds, CoCo Curry, and more.

虾饺 har gau (prawn dumpling)
港式蛋挞 HK egg tart
烧卖 siew mai (pork dumpling)
皮蛋瘦肉粥 lean pork century egg porridge

The dimsums turned out alright. I especially like their egg tart, one of the better ones I had in Shanghai.

四宝饭 four treasures

The BBQ roast was quite pathetique, small cuts of four types of BBQ items with half a salted egg.

马蹄竹蔗水 bamboo cane and water chestnut

And to cool down during summer, we have this “cooling” drink that one can make at home by following my recipe.

Simple eats, average tastes, friendly prices, crappy service.
