Landed late in Tokyo and were looking for a late night supper with my colleague. Few places were opened after 11pm, but we saw that Uotami was still available.
A brand under Monteroze Group that also include Shirokiya, Uotami Izakaya is a casual dining Izakaya with a good variety but nothing spectacular. The main attraction was the price point and locations.
和風サラダ Kaisen salad

Using JAS certified organic vegetables, you can taste the freshness in the seafood salad with wafu sauce.
炙り鯛 Aburi sea bream

Lightly seared sea bream to release the oil in the fish, and served with torch ginger, spicy grated radish and spring onions.
とろけるサーモンユッケ Salmon and tuna yukhoe

Korean seasoned raw beef or Yukhoe (육회) given a seafood twist – instead of beef tartare, Uotami used chopped salmon and tuna. But the basic egg yolk and gochujang dressing remained constant. Eaten with wrapped seaweed (nori), it’s a wonderful and delicious appetisers.
ふわとろ山芋の特製モダン焼 Special fluffy mountain yam pancake

Okonomiyaki お好み焼きis a Japanese savory pancake that originated from Osaka containing a variety of ingredients in a wheatflour and grated yam based batter. The name is derived from the word okonomi meaning “how you like” or “what you like”, and yaki meaning “cooked”. And usually it is pan-fried at the table with eggs and shredded cabbage, and contains other ingredients such as green onion, meat (usually thinly sliced pork belly or American bacon), octopus, squid, shrimp, vegetables, konjac, mochi or cheese. Not my favourite, but my American friends loved them.
串焼き / 焼きサバ Kushiyaki and Grilled Mackerel

An assortment of kushiyaki (grilled skewers), my favourites were the chicken liver and gizzards. They were grilled perfectly, and the liver 砂肝 has that creamy texture that was lacking in those found outside of Japan.
Nothing to shout for, just went for it because it opened late.
