The first ever Michelin guide for Shanghai was launched with 26 restaurants gaining stars in the first edition in mainland China. What’s with calling it 2017 edition? It’s another 4 months to Auld Lang Syne.
In a surprising and rare move T’ang Court went straight in at the top with Michelin’s highest accolade of three stars. The restaurant is the sister of T’ang Court in Hong Kong which also currently holds three stars.
In the two star category there was another surprise as Canton 8 became one of the world’s cheapest two-starred restaurants in the world with a lunch available as little as 48 yuan, about $7.
Seven restaurants in total were awarded two stars and 18 restaurants awarded their first star. Below is a full list of those restaurants to receive stars in the Michelin Guide for Shanghai 2017.
