McCormick & Kuleto’s Seafood & Steaks is located in San Francisco’s historic Ghirardelli Square with expansive views of the San Francisco Bay, Alcatraz Island, Aquatic Park, Angel Island and the marina from the dining room.
When you reserve a table, ask for the window-side table. Alternatively as for one of the raised booth that would offer the same view.
Once seated, the sourdough bread was served. Unfortunately it was a bit cold and lost the flavour. We ordered a trio of dishes from an extensive surf and turf menu.
The first time I came, I had a chilled seafood platter all by myself, in addition to a sirloin steak and a bottle of wine. This time, I ordered the platter again because it was so luxurious and my princess was with me to enjoy the chilled poached lobster, chilled boiled shrimp, freshly shucked oysters, grilled scallops on the half shell, poached Alaskan king crab legs, served with Bay shrimp cocktail sauce.
I asked the waiter if I could shared everything with my princess. They were kind enough to take notice and split the bowl of Maine lobster bisque into two small cups and drizzled the sherry cream onto both cups. The creamy bisque was full of umami and really satisfying.
The wild mushroom & ricotta ravioli was really delish. Again they were kind enough to help us split it into two portions from one order.
The first time I came (almost 25 years ago), I left with fantastic memories). It was pricey, and I remembered I spent quite a fortune back then for a meal here. It is still pricey this time round.
The service was really polished and we enjoyed a good meal with an excellent view of the San Francisco bay. Skip the desserts and go for a hot chocolate fudge at the next door Ghirardelli cafe.
