Situated in Darling Harbour at Cockle Bay is the Adria restaurant, one of the many large restaurants that surround Darling Harbour. And with the competition, it should not be too bad.
Adria Bar Restaurant is dedicated to capturing the tastes of the Adriatic coast, presented in a warm, laidback and rustic atmosphere, overlooking Darling Harbour’s vibrant esplanade.
The Cuisine
Adria’s cuisine combines fresh locally-caught seafood, rotisserie meats and pasta specialities, simmered, slow roasted or skilfully sauced in the authentic herbs and spices of the Mediterranean
1/ Bread & dips

Dips served with assorted bread, smoked salmon & dill dip, taramasalata, grated fetta & roasted capsicum with chilli
The ciabatta bread was fluffy and moist on the inside and crispy on the outside. The dips were excellent, especially the blended roasted capsicum.
2/ Caesar salad

Cos lettuce, croutons, poached egg, bacon, anchovies & parmesan with a traditional caesar dressing
I like anchovies with my caesar salad, many have skipped that because of the strong tase and large amount of salt. Glad they put them whole in there.
3/ Seafood risotto

Prawns, scallops mussels & calamari with napolitana sauce, fresh tomatoes, garlic & chilli
A very small portion, even Princess (she was 8 years old then) was able to finish it on her own. But it was so good because she refused to share it with anyone of us.
4/ Rotisserie tasting plate

A selection of both spit roasts served with mashed potato & greek salad. Spit-roasted Angus beef marinated in seeded mustard, garlic, balsamic & olive oil and spit-roasted lamb marinated in roasted capsicum, garlic, rosemary, lemon juice & olive oil. Slow roasted select cut cooked over low heat for a two to three hour period. Served with potatoes with sour cream and grilled mixed vegetable.
Afterwards
We just walked in on a whim and ordered lunch. We had reasonable food at reasonable prices and the waitress was helpful, chatty and very good. According to the website, it was supposed to serve Greek Mediterranean food, but it served neither. Not sure this can be described as a gastronomic experience but it was a good spot for people watching and enjoying a long leisurely meal.
