Finally, the Woodlands Civic Centre area is developing into a proper regional town centre. With soft opening of Woods Square, there are more eateries and restaurants for us staying in the “Northern Frontier”.
Of course, we are not expecting the high-end fine dining to find their place here. But we have tried the ramen place that opened here among the first batch, we were quite disappointed. So we were sceptical when Pho Street opened in the basement. As they said, once bitten twice shy. We ordered the classic Vietnamese pho noodles with the limited edition Premium wagyu beef slices.

The pho used they claimed was imported from Vietnam. I cannot verify the truth to this, but it was rather normal pho noodles to me. But it was the broth that totally won me over. The clear broth was packed with flavours and the beef was presented with the correct doneness of a good bowl of pho – still pink and tender.

The pho can be ordered as a set with a drink and a side. And we chose a fresh summer roll with prawn, pork belly and fresh herbs, and a Hue prawn sugarcane skewers. The roll came with the classic sweet and savoury prawn paste sauce, while the skewers came with the sriracha chilli sauce. The sides were quite good and filled the gap of monotony of the pho as the main meal.

And there were many other Vietnamese street food on offer, like the Banh Mi, Vietnamese vermicelli and other side dishes. The self-service eatery can be access directly from the side tunnel from the Civic Centre NTUC. And so far it’s the best pho in the North.
