Magic Kingdom’s Royal Table

Welcome to the Happiest Place on Earth! Princess and I finally made it to Disney World in Orlando, Florida. And to celebrate, we booked ourselves a royal treat.

Disney World is not one theme park but five theme parks in one massive area. The Cinderella Castle at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom is the second Disney castle built and based on the castle from the classic movie, Cinderella, and stands 183 feet tall, plus there’s a moat that’s 6 feet deep.

Guests can walk through the centre of the castle, where there are a few gorgeous Cinderella themed mosaics.

There’s also Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, which is a makeover salon for children ages 3-12 to get done up as a princess or prince. Princess was overaged but she would love to be dressed up like we did for her when she was three (and went to her first Disney).

Lastly, there’s a private suite at the top, the Cinderella Castle Suite, which was originally built for Walt Disney. Cinderella’s Royal Table is truly an incredible dining experience – possible the most genuinely regal treatment Disney provides anywhere.

There were plenty of chances to take your photos with the princesses – yes, more than one – and we managed to take photos with Princess Jasmine (from Aladdin), Ariel (The Little Mermaid and Snow White. And of course, Cinderella was there to greet us before we entered the Banquet Hall for our dinner.

Charcuterie

A Chef’s Selection of Cured Meats, Castle Pickles, and Accompaniments

A very busy plate but everything was covered below the sesame crackers. There were two pieces of blue cheese drizzled with honey, slices of cured meat like salami and prosciutto, pickled baby cucumbers and fruit chutney.

Soup of the Day

The soup of the day was a tomato cabbage soup that stuck to the medieval theme. Very rustic and hearty, it was nothing to shout about and definitely not something that I would expect for USD 80++ per head dinner.

Beef and Shrimp

Beef Tenderloin, Buttered Shrimp, Fingerling Potatoes With Nueske’s Bacon And Blue Cheese, Summer Vegetables, And A Shallot-Herb Compound Butter

Their version of Surf and Turf with two pathetic pieces of boiled shrimp with roasted vegetables and a piece of tenderloin that had been cooked to death. I should not have chosen the steak in these situation – it never turned up well.

Pan-Seared All-Natural Chicken Breast

Seared Chicken Breast Over Smashed Fingerling Potatoes With Seasonal Vegetables In Madeira-Mushroom Sauce

It looked like everything was thrown together on the plate, but it turned out to be the most delicious choice of the evening. The chicken breast was perfectly seared, juicy yet smokey. The Madeira-mushroom sauce was absolutely delicious and went well with the roasted fingerling potatoes.

Lady Teralyn’s Citrus Chiffon Cake

Citrus Chiffon Cake, Mascarpone Cream, Raspberry Puree, And Coconut Brittle

Decent chiffon cake with lots of raspberry sauce and mascarpone cream on top.

The Clock Strikes Twelve

Dark Chocolate Mousse with a Dark Chocolate Ganache served with a Raspberry Coulis

It was absolutely gorgeous and tasted just like you’d expect – very chocolatey! The raspberry sauce went well with it, and I wish there was more sauce because otherwise it was a bit too much chocolate in each bite. Very rich.

The dinner was so so, but the best part was the close-up view of the fireworks at the castle. You are allowed to leave the table and go see fireworks and then return to finish the dinner. Alternatively, ask for a seat the window. Reservation required as it is always fully booked the moment the park opens. So walk over to the Guest Centre once you enter the park first thing in the morning.
