An elegant new-age Japanese restaurant located on the 27th floor of a building in downtown Tokyo. They arrange the tables in a way where you can stare out at the city while dining.

The experience starts with then you take the dedicated elevator straight to the 27th floor to get to the restaurant.

And as the sun sets, the night view of Tokyo comes into full view in the distance below.

Shunju 春秋 in Tameikesanno serves Japanese creative cuisine with a city view to match. One of the largest spaces in the Shunju group, this restaurant measures 563.42 sqm, with a seating capacity of approximately 170 people.

We had a group of 26 and were seated at tables in the back, so we couldn’t enjoy the view, but we got the full view of the kitchen.

前菜二種 2 Kinds of Appetizers

One of the two appetisers for tonight was mozuku (R), a thin seaweed from Okinawa, marinated with thin-shredded ginger in sweet vinegar and topped with ebiko (flying fish roe). The other was a shrimp salad with chopped abalone skirt and broccoli and lettuce.

The salad was dressed with a sweet, fruity dressing and mixed with chopped up kanpachi (yellowfin tuna) sashimi. Refreshing and appealing to the lady diners, but I am not into fruit salad.
青豆ともち米のつくね椀 Meatball with Green Beans and Glutinous Rice in Broth

The tofu-lookalike was made with minced up chicken meat and glutinous rice flour. The mash was made from green peas. The broth was dashi. None of these worked together.

The fried fish was cooked with nanban sauce; bite size pieces of deep fried fish are marinated in slightly sweet vinegar and soy based sauce

筍の炊き込み御飯 香の物味噌汁 Rice Cooked with Bamboo Shoot, Pickles and Miso Soup

The rice was quite bland.

If you are looking for a restaurant with superb atmosphere, enough space for a large group, high-class service and awesome night view, then this is the one. If you are looking for a great meal, then this is not the one.
