Mandai has undergone a lot of transformation in recent times as more zoological parks are opened in the area. Along with these parks are more dining choices. Princess and I went for a quick lunch at Collin’s in Mandai Wildlife West.

Collin’s opened in its first store in 2012 and offered value-for-money Western food – a slight upgrade from the kopitiam (Singapore-style coffeeshop) Western grill.

The food here is similar to all other Collin’s, with a few exceptions exclusive to Mandai but I couldn’t see which one was.

The lobster bisque was really runny and lacked punch.

Deep fried sotong, the only thing that was nice that afternoon

We shared a mixed grill. Forget about the “Premium”, the only saving grace were the sauces.

The food was nothing to shout about, just slightly better than your coffeeshop Western food store. And the service was also so-so. But since it’s in Mandai Wildlife West, it becomes one of the few restaurants to go with a group if you do not want to wait as choices are limited still. For a little more, I will go to the Cavern beside the Wildlife West park instead.
