Madam Goose 鵝夫人 Revisited

Madam Goose offered very simple roast goose. The last visit was not impressive. But it was late and we need dinner. Revisited with colleagues in a recent trip to Shanghai.

鹵水鵝肝 Braised goos liver – a small appetiser of very creamy and soft foie gras braised in Teochew style.

鯪魚油麥菜 Stir-fry romaine lettuce with dace

鯪魚油麥菜 Stir-fry romaine lettuce with dace – Mommy says we need to have greens. This is the classic cha chann teng vegetable made with romaine lettuce and canned dace fish stir fry with fermented black bean.

招牌烤鴨 Roast goose

Signature Roast Goose – the piece de resistance, the signature dish, whether or not the restaurant was what it claimed to be. Still not impressed but they upgraded the side dishes to accompany the roast goose. It could be because it was a standard serve for 2~3 persons instead of the single serve I had previously.

Condiments for the roast goose

It was by far still the best roast goose I have eaten in Shanghai, and made slightly better to take out the greasiness by the condiments.

肥叉燒 Fatty charsiu

肥叉燒 Fatty charsiu – charsiu made with pork belly. Really tender and flavourful.

乾炒牛河 Stir-fry beef noodles

乾炒牛河 Stir-fry beef noodles – I was surprised, their beef noodle was not oily and have wok-hei. The beef was tender and well-marinated.

As per the last visit, the service was impeccable. Ordered a completely different menu this time except for the roast goose and managed to find a few good eats.
