We can almost do a special series with Shaw Centre. This time we went to Lino Pizza & Pasta Bar for lunch.
Lino is part of the Les Amis Group, and they also operate a Michelin 3-star French fine dining restaurant Les Amis on the ground floor. So you can be guaranteed the quality of the food here. Started as a Pasta Bar, it has added Pizza into the menu.
12″ Pizza Escargot

That’s a very unique topping – escargot. But it had other topping on the wafer-thin pizza – bacon, onion, tomato passata, garlic, parley, parmesan. I really liked their pizza, with its hand pulled base and a light passata. The escargot topping was the crown jewel for this particular one.
Appetisers
Beef carpaccio with arugula, parmesan, lemon dressing

I don’t know how they got every slice of beef in that round disc, the lemon dressing was delightful for the carpaccio instead of the usual balsamic vinegar. This was a full portion from the ala carte menu.
Deep fried calamari with paprika-rosemary salt

Battered and deep fried calamari rings were delicious, and there’s enough to share for a small bite even though the portion was much smaller for a set lunch.
Italian pork sausage, braised lentils

I wasn’t sure if they had forgotten to fry the sausage patties or it was just that – the meat fillings of Italian sausages with braised lentils poured onto them. It had the texture of a tartare, but the well-spiced meat was no raw beef.
Mentaiko chitarra with soft boiled egg, cream, plum and seaweed

Spicy cod roe with a cream based sauce, this was something I had been trying to cook at home – either I got the mentaiko overcooked, or I got the eggs to curdled. They made no such mistake, it was a well-executed cream sauce mentaiko carbonara like spaghetti.

And the egg yolk remained liquid and perfect to mix into the spaghetti.
Spaghetti aglio-olio with prawns, squid, bird’s eye chilli

Very delicious agile-olio, Princess was not impressed because she had nailed the aglio-olio at home too.
Desserts
The desserts seemed to be prepare somewhere else and just cut to pieces to be served in the restaurant. The set lunch dessert portion was smaller than the usual slice, but it was just enough.
Burnt cheesecake slice with candied orange

Tiramisu

A very tasty tiramisu with the coffee liqueur base.

Because of the Circuit Breaker Phase 2, we were not allowed to dine more than 5 per table. But we are thankful that we can come out for lunch, some other places weren’t so fortunate. The set lunch menu was fantastic value, and it was available everyday.
