I don’t know why I have such an infatuation with lor mee. I always order it when it is available. This is one of the three lor mee in Singapore that I really love. Unfortunately the queue starts early, and as I get older, I am not interested to queue.

I was surprised that the queue was not there. I double checked that the original owners were still there as it was a young man at the front of the store. It did not seem to have changed hands. I guess the next generation is taking over.

I went for a large bowl of their standard lor mee that came with a fried wanton, ngoh hiang (five spice pork roll), fish cake, braised pork belly, braised egg and fried fish. The flaky fish was not longer provided I wonder why, and they finally succumbed to the common fish nuggets.

I usually go for only pork belly, but since the young boss has taken over, I wanted to see if the flavour has changed. Something was different. The gravy for one was much thicker and lumpy. And lumpy sauce is a no-no for lor mee. Time to try 138 Lor Mee instead.
