We wanted to go to Gott’s Roadside, but ended up at Pizzeria Tra Vigne because Darling wanted Italian.

Pizzeria Tra Vigne is a wood-fired pizzeria in the heart of St. Helena Wine Country. Thin-crust, sourdough pizzas star on the menu, which also includes an incredible array of delicious salads, fun, tasty, Italian small plates, sandwiches, pasta and other wood-fired specialties.

It has a beautiful bocce courts for a casual day with friends. And when the sun is out, it has an extensive pet-friendly patio for you furry babies. If only our restaurants in Singapore are as pet friendly.
BBQ Spiced Smoked Chicken Wings
spicy carolina style cider vinegar sauce

At first I expected these to be like the buffalo wings you get in bars. It turned out to be closer in taste to KFC New Orleans spicy chicken wings that were very popular in China. We enjoyed the chicken wings.
Ducati
capicola, spicy italian sausage, mozzarella, marinara, mushrooms, sun dried tomatoes

I picked the topping because of the spanking name. Ducati was exactly what it was – racy and delicious. The spicy Italian sausage filling was used as th topping, with chopped up mushrooms and sun dried tomatoes, and a good scoop of marinara sauce. The sourdough base was delicious as well.
Rigatoni Bolognese
pork and beef ragu, pecorino cheese

Our first pasta in the US and we ravaged through the whole plate.

We sat down with our espressos and contemplated why this restaurant was often rate the Top 10 in St Helena, but never got better. Perhaps its because of the competition around it (many Michelin starred and recommended bistros and eateries) and perhaps simple home cooked Italian food was not looked upon as good eats.

However the pizza was delicious, but so were the side and pasta. And the atmosphere was relaxed. I would definitely return if I come back to Napa.
