My other “Princess”, HRH Rosie, has to stay at home when we go out for the family lunch on Sundays. Thankfully there are more and more pet-friendly or dog-friendly restaurants opening in Singapore.

Toma By the River sell themselves as the Riviera of Singapore. No it was not simply because of the humidity. And to make up for that, they make it pet-friendly. And then they do not have a pet menu, only water bowls which are dismal paper bowls that became a mess. I guessed many of us came because of all the beautiful videos of dogs enjoying the view. Now we would only return if the food was any good.
The “human” lunch
Hamfala
24 Month Aged Prosciutto Di Parma, Bufala Mozzarella, Rucola, Parmigiano

Surprisingly, the pizza came with 15 mins of ordering, even faster than the shashuka. It was a good pizza base, very soft and airy. They could’ve givement more toppings, it covered only about 75% of the surface.
Carpaccio Di Manzo
Sanchoku Wagyu Beef Eye Round, Rucola, Amalfi Lemon Dressing, Basil Pesto, Parmigiano, Pine Nuts

The beef was so thin it simply stuck to the plate. I had to scrape the beef and it turned into a blob. Taste was good, but presentation was rather shabby.
The Mediterranean
Falafel Coins, Traditional Hummus, Guacamole, Beetroot Hummus, Pita Bread, Pumpkin Seeds, Sesame, Dukkah

The platter was meant to be shared for 2-3 persons, but the portion was rather small for sharing. All the dips and mezzas were haphazardly placed in a mess together, making the tastes all mixed up. Not recommended. I would order the single portions of hummus or falafel (which was not on the menu surprisingly).
Roasted Beetroot Salad
Roasted Beetroot, Feta Cheese, Amalfi Lemon Dressing, Rucola, Cherry Tomato, Raisins, Balsamic, Pecan

Princess loves beetroot. And this salad was simple and delicious.
Shakshuka
Chopped Tomatoes, Capsicum, Cumin, 2 Eggs, Coriander, Pita Bread

When I was introduced to this dish many years ago, I really enjoyed it because it was a huge pan with many eggs and everyone broke bread and dipped into it. It was fun, it was delicious, it was homely. I was disappointed that the shashuka had only two eggs as it was designed for a single portion. But the flavor hit the spot. All they need is to put to put two more eggs.
Seafood Paella
Round Rice, Capsicum, Green Peas, Tiger Prawns, Black Mussel, Signature Lobster Bisque Coriander, Lime

The paella was cooked to al dente, so if you are like me who prefer my paella cooked more, you have to tell the waiter when you order. Or else you will be chewing your paella. The flavour was OK, and good portion to share if you have ordered other mains.

The human food was OK, not outstanding. There’s not pet-friendly menu for the furry kids. Rosie grew quite restless. Thankfully, she had all her sisters with her. They are developing a pet-friendly menu, we will see.
