The last time I ate at a Del Frisco’s was in New York, and I left the entire steak alone because of jet lag. Today I was having a bout of food poisoning, but I ate the entire bone-in ribeye.

With a warm and lavish interior, Del Friscos Double Eagle Steakhouse in Denver, Colorado, is the perfect mixture of rustic and glamorous aesthetic to create a dining experience like never before.

Our Dinner Selections

We kick-off with a heavenly start with their fresh buttered bread, setting the stage for a mouthwatering experience. I really liked the caramelised sugar on the pan that gave them the smacking good sweetness on every bun.
Thick-Cut Nueske’s Bacon
Au Poivre, Bourbon Molasses Glaze

Nueske’s applewood smoked bacon works with higher quality hogs, crossbred with Pietrain pigs because of the latter’s excellent lean-to-fat ratio. They cure their fresh slabs of bacon in brine for at least 24 hours, hang them to dry for a day or so, and then smoke them for at least another 24 hours.
Dynamite Shrimp
Sweet & Spicy Thai Chili Mayo

Crispy, fried shrimp coated in a spicy Thai chilli dressing. These Dynamite Shrimp are easy, fun and super addictive.
Shanghai-Style Fried Calamari
Sweet Chili Glaze, Bean Sprouts, Cherry Peppers, Crushed Peanuts, Scallions

Plated to perfection, the Shanghai-style fried calamari is tossed in a sweet chilli glaze with bean sprouts, cherry peppers, crushed peanuts, and scallions.
Charred Octopus
Calabrian Chili Romesco, Chimichurri, Almonds

Charred octopus brings all the flavours of the Mediterranean to your plate, with a smokey finish. The texture is close to lobster and more meaty and tender.
Wagyu Meatballs
Tomato Fondue, Shaved Manchego Cheese, Red Fresno Chile, Fresh Basil

With the rich, savoury flavours, the incredible Wagyu Meatballs is an appetiser that sets the tone for a perfect night.
Bone-In Prime Ribeye 22 oz.

Referred to as the “Cowboy Steak”, the bone-in ribeye is a super juicy, flavourful cut of the USDA Prime beef and it is perfect for the grill. However I regretted ordering the bourbon peppercorn sauce which they poured over the steak. I had to scrape it off to one side as the meat itself was already very well salted and seasoned with burnt spice crust.
Filet Mignon 12 oz

I wanted to order the filet mignon, but couldn’t prevent the temptation getting the bigger cut of meat. Although the rib eye and filet mignon are two of the most talked-about cuts, they couldn’t be more different. Depending on your steak preferences, the ribeye is perfect for those who prefer flavour, and the filet mignon is the better choice for those who prefer texture.
Bone-In Filet 16 oz

And they have a special cut called the bone-in filet mignon. They cut down the middle of the bone of a porterhouse, leaving half the bone on the filet and half on the strip. The finely marbled and aged 16 oz. bone-in filet boasts even greater flavour and extra tenderness upon preparing with the bone-in presentation.
Enhancements
No, we didn’t spend $26,000 on the sides, but we were close to ordering everything they have in the menu for the table. I had none of the sides because I was already stuffed with meat.

Sides included mashed potatoes, whipped potatoes, roasted broccolini, creamed spinach and loaded potato cakes.

In Denver for business and went to here with colleagues. It was recommended by a few in our party. By and large, the food at Del Frisco’s is straightforward and comforting. My steak arrived with a perfect char, spot-on medium rare, and a serious chew. The service was impeccable and attentive, which is what you’d expect from a pricey, high-end restaurant.
