Five years since we came back for their delicious Southern fried chicken. Yardbird Southern Table at Marina Bay Sands is still one of the best fried chicken joint in Singapore.
The decor resembles a barnhouse setting, but it is modern with many pop culture icons decorating the walls. It looked exactly like its Las Vegas location.
The open kitchen hustle and bustle with activities. The crew is an energetic bunch and I was quite surprised to hear Cantonese being shouted across by the sous chef to the line chefs.
Chicken ‘N’ Watermelon ‘N’ Waffles

The familiar sight of a great meal – the pieces of Southern fried chicken came in a chicken shaped wire mesh egg holder.
The Vermont sharp cheddar cheese waffle with bourbon maple syrup was delicious as always.
They used to give a whole chicken (two drumsticks, two breasts, two thighs and two wings) for each other. Now you can pick whether you want all dark meat and no wings, or a mixture. They were relatively bigger pieces than KFC, and deep-fried to perfection as always. It was dripping with meat juice as I bit into crispy skin.
And to balance the saltiness, there’s the compressed watermelon that has been lightly spiced.
The hot sauce was a bit of a disappointment – it tasted like tabasco had a date with sriracha. I could do with some garlic chilli sauce or the simple Sinsin chilli sauce.
Mac ‘N Cheese
Their mac ‘n cheese are delicious, just order the classic one without lobster and this would complete the meal.
We couldn’t finish everything so we packed the remaining chicken home. Since we were the last table, they were kind enough to pack more watermelon for us to bring home.
The food came promptly because we are sharing everything, and the service was great even though we came really late (almost closing time). Even at this time, the chicken came piping hot. It is still my favourited Southern fried chicken place in Singapore.
