Hans Im Glück, an established German Burger Grill and Bar originated from Munich, has chosen Singapore as their first stop for their international expansion plan. Ja, das ist gut!
Of course, the fairy tale would not have worked in the modern materialistic world that we lived in. Even simple food like burgers get complicated with luxurious configurations like foie gras burgers by Daniel Boulud. Then there’s the really bad quality fast-food stuff. When can we finally get something good and fair price.
Luckily we have someone like Hans im glück.
The decor reminded one of the Schwarzwald with imported birchwood trucks from floor to ceilings. The whole place looked like it just came out from a fairy tale. And there’s the think menu.

They have their in-house secret sauce (BBQ, chili, orange-mustard, fries sauce) that you can add to your burgers. Somehow they tasted like the ones available in supermarket.

These days, onion rings served in fast-food chains were factory made, really horrible mushy stuff. Here, they used whole onions, cut and battered and then fried to their crispy best.

Every burger set comes with steak fries and a drink. And the burgers have fresh red onions, tomato and oak leaf lettuce.

In Singapore, this burger is called Scharfrichter which means Executioner in German. In Germany, this burger is called Pfeffersack with the same mushrooms, 3-pepper sauce and rocket. The burger patty was thick and juicy, grilled to perfectly. Well constructed, the burger was delicious at every bite.
The set came with one drink. And in a German burger bar, you need a German weißbier to wash down everything.
Now I just wish In-N-Out will be here soon, and then “There is no man under the sun so fortunate as I!“
