We wanted to eat some nice shabu-shabu and one name came to mind – Imahan. We were shopping in Shinjuku and picked the nearest one in Times Square.
Imahan, established in 1895 as a Gyunabe (Sukiyaki) restaurant, specializes in Imahan Wagyu. Currently, Ningyocho Imahan serves Sukiyaki, Shabu Shabu, and Japanese cuisine, maintaining 12 restaurants, 10 meat shops, and 3 delicatessens, as well as a delivery service in Tokyo and its surrounding. This one is near JR Shinjuku right inside Takashimaya Times Square and offers a reasonably priced set lunch of Wagyu beef served in shabu, sukiyaki and grilled styles.
A meal at Imahan is always special because of the meat they used. Even the worst among the choices is fantastic in marbling and melts in your mouth.
Service is impeccable in all Imahan stores. But be prepared that the staff do not speak good English, just simple words to bring you more beer.
