Five Sixty by Wolfgang Puck offers a fantastic view. It’s a revolving restaurant, so the skyline definitely steals the show. Sorry, the photos looked horrible because the lighting in the place was really dim.
Five Sixty by Wolfgang Puck sits high atop Reunion Tower, Dallas’ iconic 560-foot landmark with its distinctive glowing ball. Diners enter the contemporary restaurant on the 50th floor and are greeted by floor-to-ceiling windows offering 360-degree views of the city from the dramatic, revolving dining room.
Starters
Organic Chicken Dumplings

Szechuan Chili Chicken “Dan Dan” Sauce, Peanuts
The potstickers had a beautiful crust and a burst of flavour the moment you take a bite. The dumplings were soft and tender with a sweet yet savory peanut sauce.
Wagyu brisket bao buns

Kimchi Aioli, Hoisin, Cucumber, Cilantro
Sweet, savoury, slightly chewy, but very tasty. Reminded me of the Chinese kong bah pao.
Sushi and Sashimi
Crispy Tempura Dynamite Roll, Sea Scallop, Cucumber, Chili Aioli, Sweet Soy
Tempura Shrimp & Crab Roll, Cucumber, Avocado, Sweet Soy Glaze – very good flavour and texture.
Seared Japanese Hamachi Sashimi, Pickled Jalapeno-Citrus Ponzu
Mains
Grilled “Mongolian Style” Lamb Chops

Hunan-style Eggplant Sauce, Cilantro-mint Vinaigrette, Fava Beans
Beautiful to look at, delightful smell and splendid flavour. The let-down was the fave beans, which were under-flavoured and mushy.
Szechuan beef filet “au Poivre”

Ginger-Chili Ragout, Smoked Shallot Sauce
The Szechuan Beef Filet “Au Poivre” was not bad. The insides were nice and juicy but the sauce was overly thick and had the distinct texture and flavour of cornstarch.
Steamed “Hong Kong Style” Barracuda

Bok Choy, Carrot, Ginger, Soy
Well, it’s steamed fish, and we can do the same at home. I would expected something more special with Puck.
Sides
Vegetarian mushroom rice bowl

XO fried rice and house lomein

Desserts
Bittersweet chocolate soufflé
It had a crispy outside and fluffy inside. Overall, it was nice and not too sweet but the 10-year chocolate sauce (additional cost) is over-rated. The addition of ice cream and creme fraiche gave little pockets of flavour busts and temperature variation, which complemented the soufflé.
Baked Alaska
The meringue was made with a passionfruit flavour, and covered a quenelle of creme fraiche and came with the seasonal blueberries.
Location
Wolfgang Puck’s restaurant continues to draw crowds. Yes, it’s gimmicky, but when you’re sitting in a rotating restaurant with fellow diners taking pictures, you have to have fun.
The somewhat funny thing is that, the best dish of the night was not an Asian Fusion dish, but was a French dish ()the soufflé) and I couldn’t help but wonder if my meal would have been more memorable if the rest of the dishes were also.
The views were breathtaking and the service was spot on. The assistant manager and manager even stopped by to introduce themselves and make sure we enjoyed our meal. Delightful place to entertain your customers, just like every other Puck’s restaurants.
