Everyone talked about the paella here at Pasarbella. Modelled after Queen Victoria Market in Melbourne, PasarBella offers a similar experience by curating the best produces and handcrafted home decor and nicknacks under one roof.
Eclectic collection of eateries
This is the place that you can get a potpourri of different cuisine and choices all under one roof. You can do surf and turf from two specialist gourmet stores, and then choose to eat Japanese sashimi next to a Sichuan hotpot. And of course, the paella that everyone talked about.
James’ Butchery & Co
Modelling his one-stop meat market after the ones in the UK, this stand’s local namesake James Goodenough musters his 20 years of experience in the business to offer a retail mix that’s 80% butchery and 20% dining.

Home cooks looking to perfect their craft at home with meats a cut above will appreciate James’ selection of exclusives like the exquisite 8-9 marble score 500-day grain-fed Australian wagyu as well as the selection of US and Irish dry-aged beef, best licked into a juicy steak by a good fire.

Oceans of Seafood
One of the highlights at PasarBella, Oceans of Seafood serves up quality sashimi and seafood at reasonable prices. Not exactly cheap, but for the quality, it was still worth it.
The restaurant is located at one end of PasarBella. The restaurant is divided into two sections; one western and one Japanese. Although it is located in PasarBella, it does not allow food from other stalls in PasarBella.
Japanese section
It is known for its fresh seafood which are flown in from Tsukiji Market every Tuesday & Friday.
Sashimi and other wonderful fresh produce
Western section
Gillardeau oysters are a brand of edible oysters that are produced by the Gillardeau family and their small private company, which was founded in 1898 in Bourcefranc-le-Chapus near La Rochelle and the Île d’Oléron in western France. Very sweet and delicious, full of umami and beautiful seawater in every mollusc.

We opted for the boiled version of the Boston lobster and Manila clams, and it was a great choice! The natural sweetness of the seafood was perfectly retained, exactly how quality seafood should taste. The accompanying lemon butter sauce was a wonderful complement that enhanced the overall flavours of the seafood.
Staff at Oceans Of Seafood are eager and helpful, able to share information on the various fish and seafood available, as well as preparation techniques. They offer both an Asian menu and a Western menu, and orders are typically fulfilled quickly. Staff are also efficient at clearing dirty plates, and seating guests. I find staff to be rather friendly and helpful, though they do also try to upsell you on more expensive items.
PasarBella – The Beautiful Market
Styles itself as a farmers market, though I didn’t see any farmers, it is more of a gourmet outlet. Many specialist retailers that brought in many curiosities. A pretty dazzling beer shop too!
