It was called The Bird, but that’s because they couldn’t use their original name back in the US. Finally they can be called the correct name – Yardbird Southern Table.

The decor resembles a barn house setting, but it is modern with many pop culture icons decorating the walls. Finally it looked exactly like its Las Vegas location.

The open kitchen hustle and bustle with activities. The crew is an energetic bunch and I was quite surprised to hear Cantonese being shouted across by the sous chef to the line chefs.

They have a nice little touch for every diner. Each one of us was given an envelope to put our face mask so that it would not be dirtied during the meal. Very thoughtful.
Butter Lettuce Mango Salad

char-grilled mango, smoked pecans, tomato, onions, benne seed dressing
Simple salad, but the portion is much smaller than the ala carte order.
Chicken ‘N’ Watermelon ‘N’ Waffles

cheddar cheese waffle, spiced watermelon
The presentation of the chicken has been given an upgrade – the pieces of Southern fried chicken are placed in a chicken shaped wire mesh egg holder. The Vermont sharp cheddar cheese waffle with bourbon maple syrup was delicious, much better than the last time I had it.

The hot sauce was a bit of a disappointment – it tasted like tabasco had a date with sriracha. I could do with some garlic chilli sauce or the simple Sinsin chilli sauce.

The chicken has improved from the last time I came. They are much bigger pieces, like the US portions, and they are deep fried to perfection as always. Very inside, it was dripping with meat juice as I bit into crispy skin. And to balance the saltiness, there’s the compressed watermelon that has been lightly spiced.
Scallop And Chorizo Pasta

fettuccini, scallops, chorizo, white wine, garlic, bottarga, arugula, balsamic chili oil
The fettuccine was cooked al dente with a very nice wheat fragrant. The sauce is a simple white wine, oil and garlic with heat supplied from the chopped chillis and the spicy chorizo. Very delicious.

By the time this course was served, we were already overwhelmed by the portion size. I didn’t expect the portions to be American size in Singapore. So we have to pack the pasta home.

The coffee was, lucky for me, not the weak-ass Americano coffee. The full-bodied was reminiscent of the Australian long black. Very strong and a bit sour aftertaste.

We couldn’t finish everything so we packed the dessert home without even serving to our table.
Grandmas’s Key Lime Pie

caramelized biscuit crust, candy lime zest, vanilla cream
Princess ate the pie when I was off to work. She loved it. I cannot say I have tasted key lime pie before. Again I missed my chance to have key lime pie.
I need to say, the service in this restaurant has improved tremendously from the last time I was here. Our waiter suggested the best combination to order so that we took advantage of the set meal discount and yet get the all the dishes that we wanted. The food came promptly because we are sharing everything, so it was a feast for the eyes to see all those food laid out before us.
