Cafe Mondial @ Brisbane

Situated between Fourpoints Brisbane and Queen Street Walk is a street side cafe that is alway busy with diners every evening I pass. Finally I sat down at Cafe Mondial to have my dinner.

Streetside Cafe a la Paris

Cafe Mondial is a casual Mediterranean-influenced cafe with Egyptian imagery on the walls inside the case and streetside tables to watch the world goes by.

Freshly shucked oysters

I started dinner with a nice dozen of oysters. They came at room temperature, and given that it was winter, it was still not the way to treat these poor oysters. The oysters were quite badly shucked as you can see some of them have been mutilated badly.

Sides

I ordered a seafood hotplate that came with a side greek salad and pita bread with greek yoghurt.

Seafood platter

The seafood was mainly squid and prawns, with a pesto garlic butter sauce served on a hotplate.

Chocolate cake

Ended with a chocolate cake which was very rich and moist, the only saving grace for the experience but I was glad the dinner is over.

I could not say I enjoyed it. In fact I was very disappointed by the food. The service was none existent after you are seated. The friendliness of the waiters trying to get you to stop by for meal disappeared once you are hooked. So don’t waste your time, the food wasn’t great too.
