When you eat good, you feel good. When you feel good, you eat better. That’s how we felt after a morning doing volunteer work and then go for a nice lunch at Ya Hua Bak Kut Teh.
We ordered everything on their menu. The soup remained the peppery taste I have come to love so much. And you can drink as much as you want of the soup, the staff was on hand to replenish as quickly as you want.
Quick mention, there’s a very good Penang style char kway teoh in the next door coffee soup. It’s OK to order and bring them across as long as you are having bak kut teh.
I have always liked this location despite that they have air-conditioned outlets elsewhere. The staff has been there forever, and the service is cheerful and prompt. It is always busy with the CBD lunchtime crowd (I was one of them in the 90s, first to their Outram Park outlets, then to their Keppel one). Despite the heat from the weather and soup, the place is open and airy so it’s great location to enjoy BKT.
