Where do you eat when you visit Disneyland with a Princess? At the Royal Dining Hall, no less! We visited six later, since we first tried the year first time in 2017, and see how they fare now (2023).

Everything in the castle was magical in the (more precisely one of the six) happiest place in the world. The Shanghai version is called Enchanted Storybook Castle, and represents all of the Disney princesses, rather than just one. It is the largest Disney castle of all and has one of two Royal Dining Halls. (The other is in Disney World’s Magic Kingdom in Orlando, Florida)
Princess Set Menu

First off, the bread basket with three different kind of bread rolls and a block of butter with embossed Mickey. The quality of the bread was ok, comparable to what they give out in an airline. The butter was pretty tasteless – I need to put some salt on the butter.
Lobster Bisque with Seafood Ravioli

The bisque was not bad in terms of taste, but there wasn’t evidence of much lobster meat in the watery soup. The ravioli was more like a shrimp wonton.
Chicken Soup with Pork Stomach and Lotus Nut

It can only be found in a Chinese Disneyland. The soup was a Chinese style chicken soup thickened with pumpkin mousse with small pieces of pig’s stomach 豬肚 and lotus seed 蓮子. The soup was surprising delicious but it was cold. And yes, there’s a piece of tofu in the shape of Mickey.
Chicken Parmigiana with Arugula Salad

I expected the parmigiana to be wedged in the piece of chicken like a schnitzel, but it was melted over the piece of breaded fried chicken breast. A Mickey-shaped blob of butter was placed on top, for what I don’t know. The passata sauce was quite thick and went well with the chicken.
Grilled Beef Tenderloin with Potato Confit and Red Wine Sauce

The Mickey-shaped potato confit was the only thing nice on the plate. The beef was overdone. This time I did not pick the steak, Princess did.
Snow White’s Apple

The camera didn’t stop clicking when the desserts were served. The table next to us had two person but they ordered three sets so that they can have all the three desserts choices. And if you are an annual pass holder, you get an additional dessert if you dine here for your birthday. So they had four desserts!
Tiramisu with Chocolate High Heel

The dessert obviously was upgraded and much better than the last time we were here. Everything was more intricate and looked better for Instagram.

The magic continued into the evening. Every set of the Princess meal entitled the person to one pass to the front row standing area to view the evening light and firework show. That alone was worth the money (RMB 500 per person).
