Goose Man Seven Shop 鹅佬柒铺 @ Shanghai

This store was in the neighbourhood news for spilling too much smell from the roasting of the poultry in its premise. Oh boy does it smell good.

Goose Man Seven Shop is known for its roast goose delivery service. The shop itself was really small, and most of the orders coming through the terminal were for Meituan delivery.

When I placed my order, the waitress taking my order advised me to buy the goose from the takeaway window as it was more worthwhile. They sell by the amount of roast that you want by weight while in the shop they sell based on the usual delivery portion.

As you see from the photos, the delivery box is very well designed. Three tubs of condiments and a aluminium tray all in their right places. And then it seals up properly to prevent leakage as roast goose can be quite moist.

They were quite generous with the portion of goose. This was an order of the lower portion of half a roast goose 下庄 which consists of the drumstick, the thighs and part of the lower back. The goose was moist and tasty, but I felt that it was not seasoned well enough.

And I also ordered a bento box of triple combination of BBQ roasts that comprised of soy sauce chicken 豉油鸡, roast pork belly 烧猪腩 and fatty char siew 肥叉, and came with half a braised egg 卤蛋. The blanched bokchoy tasted horrible; what’s that strange taste? And it’s missing something, yes, the chilli sauce.

Overall, good quality roasts from a franchise. I recommend to go pack it yourself if you are near one of their shops so that you can choose the cut you want.
