The last time I ordered their takeaway bento box, and the goose was slightly soggy by the time I reached the hotel. I decided to try it in-house to see if there’a a difference.
Goose Man Seven Shop is known for its roast goose delivery service. The shop itself was really small, and most of the orders coming through the terminal were for Meituan delivery. I ordered takeaway the last time I was here, but this time I decided to stay and eat in shop.
The last time I ordered their triple combination bento box. This time in the shop I ordered the double combination 雙拼, which consists of the roast pork belly 燒肉 and poached chicken 白切雞. It came with half a braised egg 卤蛋 and blanched bokchoy.
And to complete my meal I also ordered the double boiled soup and the boiled herbal drink (water chestnut and sugar cane drink 馬蹄甘蔗汁).
The double boiled soup had pear, spare ribs and mandarin peel and was quite refreshing. A good soup for only RMB 10 add-on to the meal, that’s a steal.
They were quite generous with the portion of goose. This was an order of the lower portion 下庄 of quarter of a roast goose which consists of the drumstick, the thigh and part of the lower back. The goose was moist and tasty, and it retained the crispiness of the skin. It is always better in the shop.
They also sell the amount of roast that you want by weight for takeaway while in the shop they sell based on the usual delivery portion. This store was in the neighbourhood news for spilling too much smell from the roasting of the goose in its premise. The takeaway was good, the in-house eat was even better. But it does not have a nice environment, so just eat quickly and go.
