Sick of Post-christmas leftovers? Don’t know where to go and what something nearby in the North? What about Thai fusion dining by the pool?
Citrus By The Pool is a Halal-certified café restaurant nestled right next to Woodlands Swimming Complex – ample parking space, but right in the middle of two MRT stations.

We ordered a fries to share. Not much truffle taste though.
Their all-day specials come with a drink and appetiser.
Seafood Aglio Olio

Fresh prawn, squid and mussels with linguine tossed in olive oil, garlic and chilli
Quite spicy for seafood agile olio because they used chilli padi in the noodles. Princess struggled through the spiciness but loved the taste and balance.

Came with a full serving of mushroom soup.
Thai Basil Chicken

And there’s something for everyone, including the old auntie – she needed her rice fix. The Thai Basil Chicken was quite spicy as well. The surprising goodness was the steamed rice, it was one of the best specimen we had and way better than the economic rice stores – made us curious what brand they used. Topped with a fried egg.

It came with the mango salad and very generous for an appetiser.
Little Boss Burger

Tender and juicy beef + mutton patty, accompanied with caramelised onions, sliced tomato, cucumber, crisp lettuce and purple cabbage slaw smothered in the all-time favourite satay sauce on a toasted bun, served with potato wedges.
With such a long description, how can one not order this satay burger.

The burger came as a huge stack, one has to flatten it to fit in the mouth. And every mouthful, one is reminded of the local favourite of satay but the patty was very flavourful and the combination of beef and mutton was perfect.

They have a good selection of cakes and desserts, and specialised drinks.
Molten Chocolate Lava Cake

The lava cake came with the largest scoop of ice cream I have seen with a cake.

Princess loved the molten centre, tasted like melted Hersey according to her. I am avoiding sweet desserts.

Besides Thai fusion food, there’s a good selection of interesting drinks, like milkshakes and floats, and the perennial favourite – milo dinosaur.

The location is a bit off and it would be a bit challenging to walk here from the MRT stations – I recommend driving here or take a bus. I understand why the need for electronic menu, but I don’t understand why they just uploaded the PDF menu which is so difficult to read on a mobile phone. We have to ask for the menu. Serving is very quick, but the service is curd and precise. But the food and price are key factors that we will definitely come back again.
