La Plateria @ Madrid

Located just a stone’s throw from two of the city’s major museums, the Thyssen and the Prado, La Platería is one of the most famous tapas restaurants in the district of Las Letras. It is a spacious restaurant, with a large central bar area where you can sample different tapas and larger portions such as sautéed potato rounds with ‘broken’ fried eggs and brie, tuna with ratatouille, and Portuguese style cod.

Terrace

It also offers a wonderful terrace area right on the Plaza de la Platería de Martínez looking out over the Paseo del Prado and the Prado Museum itself.

Mahou beer

Mahou is a Spanish brand of beers brewed by the Mahou-San Miguel Group. The brand portfolio contains a variety of beers including non-alcoholic and mixed varieties. The Mahou brewery was founded in Madrid in 1890. Have to drink it ice cold, not really tasty and light.

Gazpacho

Gazpacho is a cold soup made of raw, blended vegetables. A classic of Spanish cuisine, it originated in the southern region of Andalusia. Gazpacho is widely eaten in Spain and Portugal, particularly during the hot summers, as it is refreshing and cool.

Patatas aliñadas

Patatas aliñadas is one of those dishes that doesn’t necessarily impress at first glance. It’s the type of recipe that is completely unforgiving when made with mediocre ingredients, and quite possibly one of the reasons many people return from Spain without truly understanding Spanish cuisine. But when made right, patatas aliñadas is one of Spain’s most delicious and refreshing dishes, the perfect Spanish tapa under the warm Spanish sun.

Here’s a link to a recipe for patatas aliñadas.

Boquerones en vinagre

Boquerones en vinagre are a type of appetizer or tapa found in Spain. The central ingredient of the dish is the boquerones, fresh anchovies. The fillets are marinated in vinegar or a mixture of vinegar and olive oil, and seasoned with garlic and parsley. Great for a hot summer afternoon and accompanied by a cold white wine or beer.

Rabas calamar

What I linked about this place was that you can order half portions so that you can try a few more variety. Rabas calamar was a squid stew with rice. The squid was cooked just right and the stew was rich and tasty. Good with the rice.

Here’s the link to a recipe for squid stew.
