After a furry of Szechuan hotpot craze come a series of Hainan coconut hotpot craze. Let’s see how long it was last.
Simply put, it is hotpot cooked with a pot of clear, coconut water. In order to “associate” more to Hainan, you add chicken (Wen Chang in Hainan was supposedly the origin of Hainanese Chicken rice).
The difference between the shops is the freshness of the ingredients. Other than that, they all serve it with the usual condiments of chilli padi and old ginger.
